I will be participating in Ohio’s Arts Advocacy Day on , as my husband asked me, “no foolin?”, April 1st, in Columbus. Dayton, where I live, has an active arts community, and representatives from all the major arts groups, active community supporters, and artists (like me) will be calling on our legislators to encourage added support for the arts. We have in Ohio close to 18,000 arts related businesses (Dunn and Bradstreet) that help drive our economy, creating jobs, drawing out-of state visitors, educating our young people, and enriching our communities, and in the not enough good news condition that we are currently in as a country, we need the arts more than ever to not only do the above but lift our spirits and fuel our minds. I have seen firsthand what the arts can do, and I urge everyone to visit ohiocitizensforthearts.org where not only will you find good information but you’ll find an easy form so you can write your legislators!
